Sandra Sider and Lisa Chipetine invite you to experience the challenge of
online, live, interactive Quilt Critiques. All done by using your computer and phone! Sign up for a professional evaluation here at QuiltCritique.com.

Many of you are tired of having your studio quilts rejected by juried shows, museums, and galleries. Let us take a look at what you are doing and make a few suggestions. Or perhaps you are moving in a new direction and looking for some focused feedback.

QuiltCritique.com offers LIVE, affordable interactive critique sessions. Your quilt will be professionally evaluated by Sandra Sider, a leading specialist in contemporary quilt art. Quilt artist Lisa Chipetine is our online Producer. Because these are online sessions, you never have to leave your home or studio!

We offer:

QuiltCritiques are intended to improve:
  • Color sense
  • Composition
  • Your own critical abilities
"Lisa and Sandra have created a reasonably priced and much-needed critique service that provides constructive, illustrated feedback for improving every aspect of a studio quilt. A wonderful resource for both beginning artists who wish to improve their compositions and advanced artists who wish to move their work to the next level."    - Jeanne Beck

We have formulated basic design principles specific to quilt art, which are available here (QuiltCritique Design Guidelines).

TYPES OF PARTICIPATION:
You can choose between four different types:

Active Participant (Fee: $20.00 per quilt)
Your quilt will be critiqued by Sandra, and you will be able to communicate with Sandra and the other artists. Sandra will address particular strengths and weaknesses in each quilt, considering the artist's own goals. No cookie-cutter responses! With a maximum of only five quilts per hour-long session and one quilt per participant, each artist will receive the necessary individual attention. Artists can remain anonymous and you can watch and learn!

Note: Active Participants must register for a session at least 10 days in advance. Images must also be sent to Sandra at least 10 days in advance.

How do I join?
Active Participants have a different protocol and access codes for the Live Critique webinars as they will be able to speak and interact with Sandra. Here are the steps to have your quilt critiqued:
  • Email Lisa Chipetine and indicate the date of the critique session you would like to attend at least ten days prior to that session.
  • Once you have been confirmed for the session, you will be sent an email with instructions for paying via Paypal ($20.00).
  • Once payment is received, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the QuiltCritique webinar online and the conference call phone number.
  • Email your quilt images to both Sandra Sider and Lisa Chipetine. Send one full shot and one detail shot (preferably 300 dpi, but 72 dpi is ok if that's what you have). Images should be at least 1200 pixels on the shorter side. In the body of the email please list:
            - The critique date and session you would like to join
            - Some background (inspiration/artist statement) about the quilt, along with the title, measurements (height x width), and date of completion unless the quilt is a work in progress
            - Contact information (best # to reach you), email and mailing address (if you would like to be on our mailing list).
  • You will be emailed the session password the day of the session.
  • Problems registering? Please email Lisa.

Silent Participant (Fee: $5.00)
You will see images of all quilts involved in the session submitted by other artists, and be able to hear Sandra and Lisa's conversations with the artists. You won't be able to comment or interact with the others. Conveniently, Silent Participants may register as late as 2 hours before the QuiltCritique session begins.

Note: The only way for you to have your quilt critiqued is by being an Active Participant.

Online Personal Portfolio Reviews
QuiltCritique.com is now offering ONLINE PERSONAL PORTFOLIO REVIEWS for quilt artists!
Up to eight quilts for $200, one hour exclusively for each artist.
This fee involves research about the artist's work on Sandra's part, including a close study of any web sites. As far as we know, this is the first time that quilt portfolio critiques have been offered online by a professional service. Sessions should be reserved two weeks in advance, with images and any other information emailed to Sandra at least ten days before the session. All sessions will be recorded for our archives, and silent subscribers will be able to observe the portfolio reviews.

This interactive service requires a high-speed Internet connection. Our fee covers the webinar access for participants.

Please email Lisa with any questions you might have and to schedule your session.

"Art is an intellectual activity and the best work in fiber has thoughts or observations or emotions behind it. What makes an art work new is the strength, assurance, and depth of expression of the maker, who communicates to those of us who take the trouble to look carefully."
